NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – After winning its fourth Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference title in five years, the Manchester women's cross country team will gear up for the 2019 Great Lakes Regional hosted by Calvin in Michigan on Saturday November 16.
Manchester was led by strong performances up and down its roster at the HCAC Championships. Senior Hannah Wappes (Columbia City, Ind./Columbia City) ran away with the HCAC individual title on Sunday, crossing the finish line with a time of 22:50. Wappes finished 23 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. Junior Ana Acevedo (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) placed third overall at the HCAC Championships with a time of 24:00.
Manchester added three more top 10 finishes as Emily Ewen (Wolcott, Ind./Tri-County) placed fifth with a time of 24:21, Emily Lynn (North Manchester, Ind./Manchester) finished eighth with a time 24:48, and Sydney Young (Patoka, Ind./Princeton) placed 10th with a time of 24:54.
All five Spartans garnered All-HCAC honors for their performances on Sunday, with Wappes earning HCAC MVP honors. MU also placed one runner on the Honorable Mention All-HCAC team as sophomore Dinah Gilbert (Elkhart, Ind./Memorial) placed 18th with a time of 25:47.
