Shortly after claiming the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference championship title on Saturday, the Spartans continue to add to their season of success.
Released on Tuesday from the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), Manchester University's women's cross country team was tabbed the 10th best team in the region for week seven. Competing at the Great Lakes Regional on Nov. 10, the top two finishing teams, and top seven individual finishers not selected as members of qualifying teams, will automatically compete at the 2018 NCAA DIII Championships.
SPARTAN SHORTS: The Spartans won the HCAC championship on Saturday with four top 15 finishers. Looking back at the conference meet, junior Hannah Wappes (Columbia City, Ind.) finished fourth, freshman Kelsey Tyler (Rochester, Ind.) finished sixth, senior Samina Qureshi (Columbia, City, Ind.) finished 10th, and junior Ana Acevedo (Chesterton, Ind.) placed 14th. Other scoring finishers for Manchester were: junior Emily Ewen (Wolcott, Ind.) (21st), freshman Fiona Frost (Indianapolis, Ind.) (24th), and sophomore Hayley Musser (Oxford, Ind.) (27th).
The cross country team will take their top 10 ranking into the 2018 NCAA DIII Great Lakes Regional, on Nov. 10. The meet will take place at Blue River Cross Country Course.
