NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – Manchester University fell in straight sets to visiting Bluffton University in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball action on Wednesday night in Stauffer-Wolfe Arena.
The Beavers topped the Spartans by set scores of 25-20, 25-22, and 25-18.
Bluffton hit .259 for the match, and the Beavers added six solo blocks and eight block assists. Despite tallying 10 more kills than the Beavers, the Spartans were limited to a .167 hitting percentage.
Junior setter Lauren Gandhi (Westfield, Ind./Guerin Catholic) led MU with 28 assists. Kara Heckmuller (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) tallied 12 kills on the strength of a .222 hitting percentage. Halle Planck (Gas City, Ind./Mississinewa) finished with 11 kills. Freshman Sara Schultz (Churubusco, Ind./East Noble) hit .421 against the Beavers, finish the match with nine kills.
Bluffton improved to 6-20, 2-4 HCAC with the on Wednesday night. Manchester dropped to 10-13, 0-5 HCAC with the loss.
The Spartans will host Mount St. Joseph on Saturday October 26 at 2 p.m. in Stauffer-Wolfe Arena. MU will host Senior Day on Saturday as well.
