NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – The sizzling senior season of right side hitter Haley Duncan continued Wednesday, Sept. 26.
The Albion, Ind., native continued to make her final season in a Black and Gold uniform a memorable one drilling 17 kills with just four errors in 33 attempts for a robust .394 attack percentage in front of nearly 100 fans gathered at Manchester University's Stauffer-Wolfe Arena. It was the seventh time in the last eight matches Duncan has reached double-digit kills.
Interim head coach Ivan Matos' squad gave a Rose-Hulman bunch entering as one of only two Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference squads with 10-or-more victories, a stiff test in the wake of a 26-24, 25-11, 28-26 loss. Senior middle hitter Hannah Tevis (Royal Center, Ind.) tallied seven kills, and senior outside hitter Kaitlin Mindiola (Coatsville, Ind.) had an active night with six kills and six digs. Junior defensive specialist/libero Anna Marie Lawrie (Indianapolis, Ind.) ran her impressive string of double-digit kill efforts to nine straight with 17 and also served up a pair of aces from the back, and senior setter Dakota Stanichuk (Athens, Mich.) turned in a double-double of 21 assists and ten digs.
The Spartans, falling to 4-9 overall and 1-1 in the conference, return to league play, beginning seven in a row on the road Saturday, Sept. 29. First serve at Earlham College's Druley Performance Gymnasium is 1 p.m.
