NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – Junior outside hitter Haley Duncan (Albion, Ind.) turned in a sparkling effort, leading Manchester University against tri-league-leading Hanover College Saturday, Oct. 7.
Duncan kept the visiting Panther defense at bay wherever she found herself on the Stan Weller Court honoring Coaches Hoffman and Wolfe inside Stauffer-Wolfe. Her afternoon resume featured 11 kills with only three errors in 26 attempts, good for a robust .308 attack percentage. Beyond her totals, though, Coach Bryndon Paulsen's squad was stopped by solid net defense from Hanover to the tune of 13 total team blocks and a powerful offense that wound up with a .327 attack percentage which led the visitors to a 25-17, 21-25, 25-8, 25-14 win.
Other top numbers for the Spartans, who dipped to 8-7 overall and 0-3 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, came from senior outside hitter Ally Roskos (Elkhart, Ind.) who dug up 12 HC attacks to go with five kills; freshman setter Lauren Gandhi (Westfield, Ind.) who tallied 21 assists; and the sophomore tandem of defensive specialist/libero Anna Marie Lawrie (Indianapolis, Ind.) and middle hitter Riley Patterson (Walkerton, Ind.) who finished with two service aces each.
