Match-ups with Great Lakes Christian College and Illinois Tech are part of a tri-match hosted by Illinois Tech Saturday, Oct. 22.
Match details: The Spartans (12-11 overall) take on GLCC at 1 p.m. and the host Redhawks at 6 p.m. inside the Keating Sports Center on IIT's campus in Chicago, Ill. … Live statistics and video can be accessed for both matches via links at www.muspartans.com, the Internet home of Manchester University athletics.
Spartan Shorts: MU goes into the weekend looking to reverse a recent trend where they've dropped five of their last six. Coach Bryndon Paulsen's crew is coming off a three-set loss to co-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference unbeaten Bluffton University of Ohio Oct. 19. Senior outside hitter Courtney Chowning (Yorktown, Ind.) delivered a team-leading 12 kills, and junior outside hitter Ally Roskos (Elkhart, Ind.) ended with a .286 hitting percentage and five digs in the clash. Chowning, extending a current streak of double-digit kill matches to eight, added eight digs and a pair of block assists to her stat line. Roskos contributed the team's lone service ace to go with her hitting and digging figures … Chowning and sophomore setter Dakota Stanichuk (Athens, Mich.) continue to have strong residence on the conference's statistical report through 23 matches. Chowning is second in kills per set (3.57) and third in total kills (293), and Stanichuk ranks first in service aces (.45 per set) and second in assists (10.01 per set) … As has been a habit this season, that same pair has risen up the career charts at Manchester University. Chowning can add to that as, with three kills, she will be just the third player to reach 1100, and Stanichuk recently passed Abby Schmidt (2001-03) for third on the career assists' list.
Regular Season Final Week: The Spartans host Senior Night 2016 Wednesday, Oct. 26, as Wright St.-Lake visits Stauffer-Wolfe Arena for a 7 p.m. first serve. They follow that with a trip to Earlham College for a tri-match against the Quakers and Boyce College Saturday, Oct. 29.
