They trail Transylvania University of Kentucky by only a half-match in the loser's column for fourth … MU looks to end an eight-match skid in the series with their last victory over Bluffton occurring in 2007 … Through 22 contests, the Black and Gold are part of four top five HCAC statistical rankings. They're first in four of them with senior outside hitter Courtney Chowning (Yorktown, Ind.) topping the kills per set category (3.56) and sophomore setter Dakota Stanichuk (Athens, Mich.) leading the ace serve (.47) and assist (10.12) per set columns. Chowning is also third in total kills (281). Stanichuk's assist figures transform strongly on to NCAA Division III, as she's ranked No. 24 in the country following a weekend where she became just the fifth setter in school history to reach 1,500 in her career … The Spartans are coming off a split of a home tri-match Oct. 15 as they defeated league opponent Mt. St. Joseph University of Ohio in five and dropped a three-set non-conference match to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association foe Adrian College. Sophomore right side hitter Haley Duncan (Albion, Ind.) drilled 15 kills and hit .216 in the HCAC clash, leading the quartet. Chowning, during an afternoon in which she moved into third on the program's career kills' list, registered a double-double with digs, recording 14 and 21, respectively. Sophomore middle hitter Hannah Tevis (Royal Center, Ind.) recorded a big effort with 13 kills and a .333 attack percentage, and sophomore outside hitter Farren Miller (Lebanon, Ind.) tallied 10 kills.

Saturday Slate: MU goes to Chicago, Ill., for a tri-match against Illinois Tech and Great Lakes Christian College Saturday, Oct. 22. They take on GLCC at 1 p.m. and the host Redhawks at 6 p.m.
