NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – Senior outside hitter Courtney Chowning (Yorktown, Ind.) put up a pair of double-digit kill totals, guiding Manchester University during the opening evening of its 2016 invitational Friday, Sept. 16.
Chowning pounded 13 kills to go with 12 digs in a three-set win over Governor's State University of Illinois and came back with 15 kills, 10 digs and a robust .290 attack percentage, as Coach Bryndon Paulsen's team upped its win streak to four with a sweep of Ohio Athletic Conference member Wilmington College. She wasn't the only member of the Black and Gold totaling impressive numbers, as the middle hitting duo of freshman Riley Patterson (Kokomo, Ind.) and sophomore Hannah Tevis (Royal Center, Ind.) combined for 16 kills on only two errors during 30 attacks versus Wilmington. Sophomore outside hitter Haley Duncan (Albion, Ind.) turned in 11 kills against Governors State, too.
The Black and Gold, moving over .500 to 5-4, continue play Saturday, Sept. 17.
