A three-match win streak is on the line for Manchester University, as the Spartans open 2013 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play Saturday, Sept. 28.

Match specifics: The Spartans face off against Franklin College and Indiana University – Kokomo in a triangular at the Spurlock Center on Franklin's campus. Match times are 1 p.m. against the Grizzlies and 3 p.m. against IU-K.

Spartan Shorts: A trio featuring sophomore outside hitter Sarah Pruden (Noblesville, Ind.), sophomore middle hitter Morgan Pavelka (Noblesville, Ind.) and freshman outside hitter Courtney Chowning (Yorktown, Ind.) helped lead the Black and Gold to a four-set win at St. Mary's College of Notre Dame, Ind., Sept. 25. Chowning produced a double-double in kills (16) and digs (15), while Pruden hammered 13 kills, and Pavelka finished with 10 kills, a .400 attack percentage, three service aces and four block assists … MU rallied from a 25-23 first set loss to the Belles with 25-20, 25-19, 25-20 decisions to win the match … The Spartans have been on fire during their current win skein, producing a .165 attack percentage, just under three service aces a set (2.91) and 44 blocks as part of winning 10 of 11 sets. Pavelka sports a .390 attack percentage, while Chowning and Pruden are both over 30 kills in the span … Pruden remains in the HCAC's top five in kills per set (4th – 3.24).

Home and Away Week: MU goes to Fort Wayne, Ind., to square off with the University of St. Francis Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. They return to Stauffer-Wolfe Arena for home matches against Hanover College and Transylvania University Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 5 and 6, as part of Homecoming 2013 festivities.
