Spartans wrap up unbeaten week

RICHMOND, IND. – Sophomore outside hitter Sarah Pruden (Noblesville, Ind.) and freshman outside hitter Courtney Chowning (Yorktown, Ind.) both registered double-digit kill matches, leading Machester University to a four-set win at Earlham Friday, Sept. 20.

Pruden recorded her eighth match of 10-or-more kills ending with 13 kills and a .286 attack percentage. Chowning added 12 kills and delivered a team-high four service aces.

MU, improving to 3-9, moved out quickly against the Quakers (3-12) with 25-17, 25-21 wins. The home team did manage a third set 25-23 victory, but the Spartans concluded a 2-0 week with a 25-20 fourth set decision.

Looking further into the final statistics, junior defensive specialist Morgan Yoder (Goshen, Ind.) tallied 19 digs with Chowning following close behind (17). Sophomore middle hitter Devin Clark (Madison, Ind.) repelled two Earlham attack attempts with solo blocks.

The Black and Gold continue their current five-match road trek by going to St. Mary's College of Notre Dame, Ind., Wednesday, Sept. 25.
