"Honor comes from playing by the rules" is inscribed on the R. Wayne Smith ’49 Gate; the red brick and black iron structure is the entrance way leading to Manchester University’s track and field facilities. The venue, highlighted by a nine-lane all-weather track surface, also features hammer and discus cages, two cement shot put areas and two long jump runways as well as high jump and pole vault competition areas.
|Serving as the practice site for the outdoor track and field season, the venue is also used to host Manchester University's Spartan Track Classic each spring.
|The annual invitational brings a competition field of at least six universities and colleges to North Manchester. The facility has also hosted Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships with the most recent being in 2013.
