KALAMAZOO, MICH. – A red-hot Kalamazoo College offense broke up a scoreless tie in the 10th minute Wednesday, Sept. 19, as Manchester University concluded a span of five contests against the perennially strong Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association.
The Hornets, improving to 5-2-1, found the back of the Black and Gold net at the 10:45 mark for a 1-0 edge. They added two more in the closing stages of the first period and didn't look back in route to a 9-0 victory.
Head coach Christine Johnson's side, falling to 0-8, did fire off five shots at the home goal. Senior midfielder/forward Maranda Birmingham (Kouts, Ind.) registered three of them, while sophomore defender/midfielder Alexis Beeman (O'Fallon, Mo.) and junior midfielder/forward Katie Green (Chesterton, Ind.) took one chance each.
Manchester University resumes its non-conference schedule Saturday, Sept. 22. Otterbein University of Ohio travels to North Manchester and Good Field for a 1 p.m. start.
