Spartans put quintet on HCAC Players to Watch

GREENWOOD, IND. – Manchester University was represented by a quintet of individuals in the "Players to Watch" section of the 2018 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference's women's soccer preseason poll release Thursday, August 23.

Senior midfielder/forward Maranda Birmingham (Kouts, Ind.); junior midfielder/forward Katie Green (Chesterton, Ind.); sophomore midfielder/defender Sydnee Jensen (Casper, Wy.); freshman midfielder/defender Jessica Hudnall (Noblesville, Ind.) and freshman forward Jayden Murray (Delphi, Ind.) were the Black and Gold student-athletes noted.

Coach Christine Johnson's program was picked eighth on the poll, garnering 32 points. Mt. St. Joseph University, Franklin College and Hanover College were nearly neck-and-neck for the top three, as MSJ took the top spot with 84 points and four first-place votes; Franklin finished with 81 points and three first-place votes; and Hanover wound up with 77 points and two first-place votes.
