CHICAGO, ILL. – Junior defender/midfielder Isabella Zoog (Brownsburg, Ind.) recorded her second goal of 2017 Wednesday, Sept. 27, highlighting a fast start for Manchester University.

Zoog rifled a shot past Illinois Tech net minder Elizabeth Bremer in the 13th minute off a free kick, snapping a scoreless tie and giving the Spartans a 1-0 lead. The host Redhawks answered in the 19th minute followed by a pivotal two-minute stretch right before halftime with two scores and didn't look back on their way to a 5-1 decision.

Senior defender Jaclyn Scialdone (Noblesville, Ind.) and senior midfielder Kelsey Ropp (Freeland, Mich.) looked to give MU more chances to light up the Stuart Field scoreboard. However, their combined four shots on goal were turned away. On the defensive end, junior goalkeeper Cami Holford (Valparaiso, Ind.) tallied four saves over nearly 80 minutes, while freshman Maddie Poe (Kokomo, Ind.) kept the home side at bay over the final 10.

Manchester University (0-8) begins Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action Saturday, Sept. 30, welcoming Hanover College to Good Field. Kickoff is 1 p.m.
