HANOVER, IND. – A quartet of Manchester University players registered a shot apiece as part of a 4-0 loss at the hands of Hanover College in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play Saturday, Oct. 1.
Junior midfielders Courtney Hersick (Plymouth, Ind.) and Jenny Pudlo (Crown Point, Ind.), junior defender Jaclyn Scialdone (Noblesville, Ind.) and freshman forward/midfielder Katie Green (Chesterton, Ind.) all took aim on the offensive end, with Green and Scialdone each forcing saves from net minder Karlee VanDerWeele. On the other end of the field at HC's Athletics Complex, sophomore keeper Caroline Smith (Mason, Ohio) had a big afternoon, repelling 20 Panther shot on goal attempts in the midst of a 40-4 home side shots' advantage. Her total as the most in a match for the Black and Gold since October 2009.
Hanover posted a pair of scores in the opening 10 minutes. From there, they were kept silent by Smith's play until the early stages of the second half.
MU (0-7 overall, 0-1 HCAC) starts an away and home week Wednesday, Oct. 5. They travel to Anderson University for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
