A Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference women's and men's doubleheader against Earlham College is next for Manchester University Saturday, Oct. 19.

Match specifics: The women's match begins at 1 p.m. with the men starting at 3 p.m. … The twinbill at Spartan Field is highlighted by a pre-match recognition ceremony for women's senior midfielder Allison Harper (Granger, Ind.) and a halftime ceremony for the men's team senior quartet of midfielder/forwards Connor Seavers (Auburn, Ind.) and Bertin Gisagara (Mishawaka, Ind.) and defender/midfielders Matt Gray (Anderson, Ind.) and Matthew Suderman (Bluffton, Ohio) … Live statistics for both matches will be available at www.muspartans.com, the Internet home of Manchester University athletics.

Spartan Shorts: Men - A second straight positive second half effort highlighted a 1-0 loss at Defiance Oct. 15 ... The Spartans out-shot the host Yellowjackets 9-2 in the final 45 and forced two saves. The freshman duo of forward/midfielder Ola Ladapo (London, England) and midfielder Matthew Jordan (Zionsville, Ind.) turned in a shot on goal each to lead the offense, while sophomore goalkeeper Julio Luevano (Aguascalientes, Mexico) registered five saves ... Fellow sophomore goalkeeper Craig Thacker (Lebanon, Ind.) remains within the league's top five in saves. He's tied for fourth with 45.

Women - The Black and Gold enter the weekend on a three-match win skein, equaling a similar run they reached earlier this season ... Junior midfielder Sofie Tzortzinis (Ann Arbor, Mich.) scored her third overall and second game-winning goal to lift MU past Defiance 1-0 Oct. 15. Her mark in the 81st minute also helped junior goalkeeper Emily Willmann (Montpelier, Ind.) pick up her 19th career shutout ... Willmann is one of three Manchester University players ranked in the HCAC's statistical top five. Her 107 saves are first, while her 85.6 save percentage and 1.32 goals-against average rank fourth. Junior forward Katelyn Barta (Griffith, Ind.) is second in goals (nine), assists (six) and points (24) and fourth in shots (40), and sophomore forward Brandy Crouse (Cleves, Ohio) is tied for fifth with six goals …  Willmann was ranked in the top 30, at No. 30, in saves on the NCAA Division III report for matches played through Oct. 13. The team was just outside the top 50 (51st) in save percentage, too … A win over Earlham would give Manchester University its longest win streak since 2008.
