ROANOKE, Va. - Jordan Napier battled two tough opponents, including the No. 8 wrestler in the nation in the 141-lb. weight class, at the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships on Friday March 8.
Napier (Indianapolis, Ind. / Perry Meridian) matched up with No. 8 David Flynn from Augsburg in his first bout of the day. Flynn held a narrow 3-0 advantage after the first period. In the second period, Flynn managed to pin Napier to the mat and won by fall at the 3:41 mark.
In the evening session, Napier faced Mario Vasquez of host Ferrum College. Napier struck first in the match with a quick takedown. Vasquez rallied back and took a slight lead at the end of the first period. Vazquez maintained a slight edged over Napier the remainder of the match and earned a 15-8 decision.
Napier ended his junior campaign with an overall record of 37-9.
