NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – Two Manchester University wrestlers were named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-American team.
Junior 149-pounder JaVon Phillips (Centerville, Ind. / Centerville) had an outstanding season, posting a record of 30-14. He earned a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Division III Central Region Championships after entering the championships unranked.
Joining Phillips on the NWCA Scholar All-American Team was freshman 157-pounder Joel Arney (Fort Wayne, Ind. / Carroll). Arney saw more action as the season progressed and finished with a 14-10 mark at the end of his first campaign at Manchester. Arney won three matches at the NCAA Division III Central Region Championships and earned a sixth-place finish.
