CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – Junior 141-pounder Jordan Napier (Indianapolis, Ind. / Perry Meridian) continued to shine this weekend, adding a second-place finish at the NCAA Central Region Championships to his 2018-19 resume.  Napier helped the Spartans to a ninth-place overall finish on Saturday afternoon and punched himself a ticket to the 2019 NCAA Division III Wrestling National Championships.

Napier started the weekend with a technical fall victory, 20-3, in his first-round bout with Ohio Northern's Cameron Poulton.  Jordan then won by fall against Nate McClanahan of Mount St. Joseph.  Napier then punched his ticket the 2019 NCAA Division III Wrestling Finals with a hard-fought 10-7 decision over Jarrod Brezovec from John Carroll University.  Napier took home second-place at the Central Region Championships after narrowly falling to All-American Brendan Ladd from Alma College.

Several other Spartans had strong performances during the weekend.  JaVon Phillips (Centerville, Ind. / Centerville) entered the 149-pound weight class unranked and battled his way to a fifth-place finish.  Philips started his weekend with a win by fall over Olivet's Drew Mandell in his opening round bout.  After falling in his next match, Phillips won by technical fall over Muskingum's Toby Warrington.  Phillips added another tech fall and earned a sudden victory to claim fifth-place.  The junior finished with 30 wins this season.
