Outstanding Weekend Propels MU to best HCAC Finish in over a Decade

BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Manchester University women's golf team finished third overall this weekend at the 2019 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Golf Championships.  The team shot a two-day total of 706 to secure its best finish at the conference championships since 2008. 

Leading the charge this weekend for the Spartans was Taylor Erfman (Brookville, Ind./Franklin County).  Erfman was named to the All-HCAC Team after finishing in a tie for seventh place.  Taylor shot round scores of 88 on Saturday and 84 on Sunday for a two-day total of 172. 

Mary McGuire (Fishers, Ind./Fishers) placed tied-for-12th this weekend at the conference championships following rounds of 89 and 86.  She carded a two-day total of 175.

Kaitlyn Cook (Monticello, Ind./Twin Lakes) added a 16th-place finish for MU this weekend. Cook fired rounds of 85 and 92 for a two-day score of 177.

Sara Knepper (Bremen, Ind./Bremen) finished in a tie for 23rd-place at the HCAC Championships following a two-day total of 182.  Kendra Davis (Hammond, Ind./Whiting) rounded out the Manchester scoring with a 39th-place finish and a score of 215.

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology won the HCAC title this weekend with a two-day team total of 660.  The Fightin' Engineers will advance to the NCAA Division III Championships in May.

Transylvania University placed second over the weekend, finishing with a score of 699.  The Spartans (706) finished two strokes ahead both Hanover and Franklin, who tied for fourth-place with identical scores of 708.
