Smith, a native of Wabash, Ind., registered her fifth top 15 finish of the season with rounds of 82 and 86 in route to a 36-hole 168 which was good for a tie for 13th place. Erfman, a native of Brookville, Ind., collected her fourth top 20 of the year with an 87 on Saturday and 86 Sunday at Keene Run Golf Course for a 173 to tie for 16th. The duo was the low tandem for Coach Tara Boone's squad at the 2017 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, helping guide the Black and Gold to a two-day 706, good for fourth place which continued an impressive roll of seven straight seasons in which the program has ended among the first five.
Looking further, freshman Kaitlyn Cook (Monticello, Ind.) was a third Spartans' athlete to enter into the top 20. Her score of 178 put her 20th. Senior Kaitlin Powers (Indianapolis, Ind.) and junior Haleigh Fernandez (Selma, Ind.) wrapped up the counting scores with 189 and 193, respectively.
