Miller, Powers lift Black and Gold in first round

CINCINNATI, OHIO – The underclasswoman duo of freshman Amanda Miller (Fort Wayne, Ind.) and sophomore Kaitlin Powers (Indianapolis, Ind.) put themselves within the individual top 15 after the first round of the 2015 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships Saturday, Oct. 10.

Miller's round of 90 was tied for 10th on the leaderboard, while Powers was just a stroke behind her teammate playing the Aston Oaks course to a 91 for a 12th-place standing. The Spartans' 386, good for fourth on the team listing, was aided by sophomore Madison Yenser (Fort Wayne, Ind.) whose 101 score had her tied for 25th.

Second round action, set for Sunday, Oct. 11, is set to begin at 9:30 a.m.
