Black and Gold turn in top five effort

MADISON/SEYMOUR, IND. – Freshman Amanda Miller (Fort Wayne, Ind.) and sophomores Madison Yenser (Fort Wayne, Ind.) and Kaitlin Powers (Indianapolis, Ind.) registered top 35 individual marks, leading Manchester University at the Hanover College Fall Invitational Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 12 and 13.

Miller, who earned the Spartans' low honors for the third time in as many meets, produced back-to-back sub-90 rounds at Sunrise Golf Course and Shadowood Golf Course. Her 86 and 88 totals equaled a total of 174, good for a tie for 14th. Yenser carded a 36-hole score of 190 to tie for 33rd while Powers was just a stroke behind her classmate (191) to place 35th.

MU's two-day team compilation (748) snuck them just past St. Mary-of-the-Woods (750) for fifth place. The host Panthers and Rose-Hulman battled throughout the weekend for the team title with Hanover carding a 644 to best the Fightin' Engineers by five strokes.

The Spartans continue their fall schedule hosting their home invitational Saturday, Sept. 19. Honeywell Golf Course in Wabash is the venue.
