ANGOLA, IND. – Amanda Miller didn't wait long to make a strong impact on the Manchester University women's golf program.
In her first meet competing for the Spartans, the freshman from Fort Wayne, Ind., played Trine University's Zollner Golf Course to a round of 88, leading Coach Tara Boone's squad on the individual side by placing in a tie for 14th in the 111-golfer field. Sophomore Jennifer Oldaker (Kokomo, Ind.) was second-lowest with an 18-hole total of 97 to end in the top 40 as well, while fellow sophomore Madison Yenser (Fort Wayne, Ind.) turned in a 99 to place in a tie for 43rd.
The Black and Gold's 392 team score, winding up ninth in the 12-team field, was just two strokes shy of the top seven.
Manchester University's 2015 fall slate resumes Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 5-6, when the Spartans are part of the Anderson University Invitational. Killbuck Golf Course is the host venue.
