BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Manchester women's basketball team concluded the first half of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference slate on Wednesday night at Bluffton University. The Beavers used a strong second half to race past the Spartans, winning by an 82-45 final.
The Spartans and Beavers were all square at 31 at the intermission but the Beavers held Manchester to just 14 points in the second half of Wednesday's night contest.
Bluffton shot 32-of-73 (43.8 percent) from the floor and went 7-of-20 from deep. Manchester was limited to 18-of-62 (29 percent) shooting from the field and the Spartans made just 2-of-20 three-point field goal attemtps.
Beth Schaefer (Fort Wayne, Ind. / Carroll) led MU with nine points. She also tallied four rebounds.
Bluffton improved to 6-10, 4-5 HCAC on the year. Manchester fell to 2-14, 0-9 HCAC. The Spartans will return to Stauffer-Wolfe Arena on Saturday January 19 against Earlham College. Tip with the Quakers is currently scheduled for 2 p.m.
