NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – Manchester University added to its historical record book for its women's basketball program Tuesday, July 31.
For the institution and program's first time, the Spartans were named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's Academic Top 25 for Division III. The list recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and two-year GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2017-18 season is the 23rd in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls.
MU's team grade-point average of 3.617 ranked No. 14. Emerson College of Massachusetts topped the roll (3.712). The Spartans are the third Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference school ever recognized, as Defiance College (1997-98/1998-99) and Mt. St. Joseph University (2008-09) were previously honored.
Teams are nominated for the Academic Top 25 by a WBCA member head coach and must have a 3.000 or better GPA as part of the criteria.
