Two-game home stand begins Wednesday

The second half of the 2017-18 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference schedule rolls on Wednesday, Jan. 24.

Game details: Manchester University faces off against Defiance College … Game time is 7:30 p.m. at Stauffer-Wolfe Arena on MU's campus … Live audio, statistics and video can be accessed via links at www.muspartans.com, the Internet home of Manchester University athletics … The Spartans have claimed 11 of the last 20 against the Yellow Jackets, but Defiance has ebbed away at the roll with five straight victories including one at home last month.

Spartan Shorts – MU (4-13 overall, 3-7 HCAC) looks to reverse recent fortunes in which they've dropped three of their last four. They're fresh off a 73-47 loss at the hands of Earlham that began the second half of the HCAC schedule … Sophomore guard Nicole Weaver (Fort Wayne, Ind.) scored a squad-best 14 points and grabbed a team-high six rebounds, while classmate Haley Farris (Sharpsville, Ind.) wound up with 11 due, in large part to an eight-for-eight effort at the free throw line. Junior guard Faith-Alexis Graham (Indianapolis, Ind.) chipped in 10 and added five rebounds. Even with those efforts in tow at EC's Schuckman Court inside Druley Performance Gymnasium, it wasn't enough to overcome a combined 41-13 second and third-period roll by the host Quakers … Weaver's scoring average is up five-tenths over the last three contests. She's registering 14.3 points per outing in the span … Since returning to the line-up, Graham has made an impact in several statistical categories. The starting point guard is averaging just under 10 points, nearly two assists and steals and better than three and a half rebounds through the six-date period. Dating back to the end of 2016-17, she's picked up at least one steal in nine successive games

Mt. St. Joseph Weekend: The Lions pay a visit to Stauffer-Wolfe Arena Saturday, Jan. 27. Tip-off is 1 p.m.
