Spartan Shorts: The road to the 2017 HCAC postseason championships is simple for Coach Josh Dzurick's team. They need to go 2-0 this week against DC and Transylvania University Saturday, Feb. 18, to earn a berth … The Spartans stand 8-15 overall and 7-9 in conference play. Coach Dzurick's team faced off against HCAC leader Rose-Hulman in its final road trip of the regular season Feb. 11 and was defeated 65-34. Sophomore guard Faith-Alexis Graham (Indianapolis, Ind.) tallied seven points and grabbed five rebounds, both among team highs. Senior guard Jenifer Lee (Rockville, Ind.) was next in line scoring-wise with five points, part of a stat line that included four rebounds, an assist and a blocked shot. Giving the Fightin' Engineers all they could handle throughout the opening 10 minutes and then trailing by just one early in the second period, the Black and Gold was thwarted by a 14-2 stretch by the hosts from the 9:38 to 2:29 marks of the second frame … Four MU statistical categories are mentioned among the conference's top 10. Sophomore forward/center Beth Schaefer (Fort Wayne, Ind.) is ninth in rebounding (6 pg); freshman guard Nicole Weaver's (Fort Wayne, Ind.) 79.6 percent free throw accuracy is also ninth-highest; Lee's 33.7 percent conversion rate beyond the arc is ninth, too; and junior forward/center Torrie Christlieb's (Culver, Ind.) one blocked shot per game average is eighth.

2017 Senior Day Festivities: A combined group of seven Manchester University men's and women's student-athletes are honored prior to the start of their respective games Saturday, Feb. 18. The Spartans welcome Transylvania University that afternoon for the 2016-17 regular season finales.
