MU seeks to continue recent roll

Manchester University resumes the second half of the 2015-16 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Campaign Wednesday, Jan. 27.

Game details: The Spartans and Franklin College are set for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff at the Spurlock Center on FC's campus … Live audio, statistics and video for the game can be accessed via a link at www.muspartans.com, the Internet home of Manchester University athletics.

Spartan Shorts: Manchester University, sitting at 6-11 overall and 4-6 in the conference, brings a two-game win skein into their southern swing. The modest streak has helped them stay within the postseason tournament picture by being among a three-way tie for fifth with Mt. St. Joseph University and Hanover College … A 74-60 decision at Earlham Jan. 23 wrapped up the unbeaten week. Senior guard Justine Kruger (Francisville, Ind.) recorded a single-game career high 19 points on eight-of-10 shooting which included hitting one-of-three three-point attempts and going a perfect two-for-two at the charity stripe to lead the way. Her afternoon didn't stop there, either, as she also corralled a team-leading seven rebounds, picked off a squad-best three steals and dished out two assists in 28 minutes … MU's team numbers last week were impressive. They averaged 69.5 points, nearly 15 over their current mark (55.4), hit 50 percent from the field which included a blistering 51.9 percent from outside the arc (14-of-27) and grabbed 37 rebounds per contest … Due to the recent successes, a quartet of Black and Gold players are appearing in the HCAC's statistical top 15. Senior guard Katie Arterburn (Indianapolis, Ind.) is at the front of the class in the group with her 39.3 percent three-point field goal accuracy ranking seventh-best. Kruger is in the territory twice, as her 43.6 percent field goal conversion rate and 1.5 steals per game each rank No. 12; freshman guard Faith-Alexis Graham (Indianapolis, Ind.) 2.6 assists per outing are 14th; and sophomore forward Tori Christlieb's (Culver, Ind.) rebounding average of 5.5 per contest stands 12th … Even with a 51-28 Franklin win at North Manchester earlier this month included, six of the last 11 series meetings have been decided by 10-points-or-less.

Mt. St. Joseph Twinbill: MU's men's and women's teams welcome the Lions for an HCAC doubleheader Saturday, Jan. 30. Game times are 1 p.m. for the women and 3 p.m. for the men.
