Manchester University's Spartan Sport Management Club is gearing up for the 2013 Primetime at the PERC, in connection with the opening of the men's and women's basketball seasons, Thursday, Oct. 17. The event gets underway at 9 p.m. inside Stauffer-Wolfe Arena in Manchester University's Physical Education and Recreation Center. The evening will feature introductions of the 2013-14 Spartan teams and brief practices for each as well as contests, giveaways and a $1,000 half-court shot promotion.
"We want this to be a high energy celebration for the beginning of the basketball seasons," club advisor Dr. Ryan Hedstrom said. "(The club) is especially excited about the half-court shot promotion. Students in attendance will be given raffle tickets with three of them drawn for the contest."
This year marks the third edition of the SSM Club's annual event.

On Friday, Sept. 27, Manchester University basketball hosted the first Coaches Roundtable. Speaking at the event were Mike McGrath, head men's basketball coach at the University of Chicago; Jody May, head men's basketball coach at Albion College; Eric Thompson, head boys basketball coach at Manchester High School; Josh Dzurick, head women's basketball coach, Manchester University and Brad Nadborne, head men's basketball coach, Manchester University. Also in attendance were many assistant coaches from these programs. Many timely and relevant topics were presented and discussed, with McGrath, Dzurick and Nadborne presenting on defensive concepts, while Thompson and May focused on team aspects of offensive play.
