NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The Manchester University softball team dropped a pair of non-conference contests to visiting Alma College on Tuesday evening out at the MU Softball Field.
Game 1 - Alma 16, Manchester 10 - Box Score
Both teams had little trouble mustering offense in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader. The Scots finished with 16 hits while the Spartans collected 12.
Manchester got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after an RBI single from Alexis Mokos (Cedar Lake, Ind. / Hanover Central).
The Scots opened the game up with eight runs in the second and scored at least one run each inning the rest of the ball game.
Manchester scored three times in the third, four times in the fifth and two times in the seventh.
Mokos led Manchester with three hits in four trips to the plate. Zoie Penn (Clinton, Ind. / Riverton Parke) had two hits and an RBI.
Game 2/5 Innings - Alma 9, Manchester 1 - Box Score
Manchester couldn't slow the Scots' offense as Alma took the second game of the day by a 9-1 final in five innings. The Scots added 12 more hits.
The Spartans again scored in the bottom of the first following a Mokos sac fly but MU was held scoreless the remainder of the game. The Spartans were limited to five hits in game two.
Manchester's HCAC doubleheader with Rose-Hulman, originally scheduled for tomorrow evening in Terre Haute has been moved to Friday April 26 at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.
