Spartans Fall on the Road at No. 11 Trine

ANGOLA, Ind. - Manchester University traveled to nearby Trine on Sunday afternoon for a non-conference doubleheader with the eleventh-ranked Thunder.  The Thunder defeated the Spartans in both contests.  

Game 1 - #11 Trine 10, Manchester 0 - Box Score

Trine starting pitcher Hannah Kampmann improved to 8-1 in the pitcher's circle after allowing just one hit in game one of Sunday's doubleheader.  

Sydney Thompson (Logansport, Ind. / Logansport) tallied the lone hit for the Spartans in the top of the 5th inning.

Game 2 - #11 Trine 2, Manchester 0 - Box Score

Manchester fell in a hard-fought, 2-0 contest in the second game of the day.  Pitcher Lizzie Smith (Indianapolis, Ind. / Franklin Central) limited one of the nation's most prolific offenses to five hits and a pair of runs over six innings.  

Five different Sparans tallied a hit in game two.

Manchester moved to 8-10 on the season.  #11 Trine improved to 19-3.  Manchester will return to action on Thursday April 11 at 3:30 p.m. against Anderson.  Thursday's game is schedule to be the first home game of 2019 for Manchester.
