FRANKLIN, IND. – Five individuals ended with two-or-more hits as part of Manchester University's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at Franklin College's Behrens Softball Field at Grizzly Park Saturday, April 8.

Sophomore shortstop Mandy Boggs (Frankfort, Ind.) led the parade with three singles, all coming in the second game. The quartet of freshman designated hitter Makenzi Nyland (Avon, Ind.), sophomore outfielder Krystal Sellers (Bourbon, Ind.), freshman first baseman Shakira Perez (Elkhart, Ind.) and junior second baseman Laurren Ladwig (Crown Point, Ind.) wound up with a pair of safeties each.

Despite those totals, Coach Dzurick's squad couldn't overcome a red-hot hitting and pitching Grizzlies' crew. FC's Olivia Paszek shut down Manchester University on two hits and didn't surrender an earned run while striking out eight in a 10-1 game one final that went six innings. A three-run rally over the fifth and sixth frames helped the home side side-step a Black and Gold attack in the nightcap that included a two-run home run from sophomore catcher Sydney Thompson (Logansport, Ind.) in route to an 8-3 decision.

The Spartans continue four in a row in conference action on the road Wednesday, April 13, doubleheader at Defiance College. First pitch is 3:30 p.m. at DC's Sal Hench Field.
