Cromer steps down from head coaching position

Manchester University Director of Athletics Rick Espeset has announced head softball coach Tracy Cromer is resigning to accept a similar role at Greenville College of Illinois.

"She's had a tremendous impact on many student-athletes, and our softball program is in better shape today than when she arrived," Espeset said. "We wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors."

Cromer led the Spartans to the 2013 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference title as part of a five-year record of 92-106. The Spartans turned in three 20-plus-win slates including a 23-20 record during her second year and 22-17 mark during her fifth year at the helm. They also reached the final games of the HCAC tournament in 2010, 2012 and 2013.

"I'll miss the experiences I've had with the (Manchester University) program," she said. "I've met so many wonderful people, including the student-athletes I've had the pleasure to coach, during my time. This move was a difficult decision, but I know I'm going into a situation that's just as positive as the one I was fortunate to be a part of at MU."
