NORTH MANCHESTER, IND. – Manchester University concluded its 2017-18 home season on a high note Thursday, April 26.
The Spartans rolled past visiting Mt. St. Joseph 8-1 for their third win on the campus' outdoor courts. Doubles decisions got things going, as MU dropped just 10 games in all three matches with seniors Spencer Thomas (Yorktown, Ind.) and Isaac Collis (Alexandria, Ind.) winning 8-5 at number one; junior Connor Eichenauer (North Manchester, Ind.) and freshman Isaac Miller (Goshen, Ind.) claimed an 8-2 victory at number two; and the senior duo of Garrett Bear (Indianapolis, Ind.) and Kyler Love (North Webster, Ind.) sailed 8-3 at number three.
Interim head coach Dr. Wendy Hoffman's team, moving to 3-7 overall and 3-3 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, also picked up five of six singles' triumphs. Bear, Eichenauer, Love, Miller, and Thomas each turned in straight-set wins.
The Spartans wind up the 2017-18 regular season Saturday, April 28, at Transylvania University. First serve is 11 a.m. at TU's tennis complex in Lexington, Ky.
NOTES: Love ran his singles' win streak to three and overall record to 6-4 … He and Bear are also at the six-win mark in doubles having claimed four of their last five.
