No. 7 Calvin Proves too Strong for Spartans

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – Manchester hung around with No. 7 Calvin University, the 2018 NCAA Division III National-Runner Up, for the early stages of Saturday's game. However, a flurry of goals midway through the first half distanced the visiting Knights from the host Spartans on Saturday afternoon at Good Field.

Leading 1-0, the Knights scored four goals in seven minutes to pull away from the Spartans.

MU did find the back of the net against a tough Calvin defense.  Alex Baker (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) scored his first goal of the season in the 84th minute.

Manchester will have a week off to prepare for its first Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent, Hanover College.  The Spartans will host the Panthers on Saturday October 5 at 3:30 pm at Good Field following the conclusion of the women's contest.

#7 Calvin (10-1) won its ninth straight game and will take on Adrian next Saturday.
