Spartans blanked on league road trip

HANOVER, IND. – Four different Manchester University players tallied a shot attempt, and senior goalkeeper Justin Meredith (Shelbyville, Ind.) turned in seven saves, headlining the team's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference clash at Hanover Saturday, Sept. 29.

Meredith and the visiting side defense managed to keep things level in a scoreless draw for the first 37-plus minutes. From that point, the host Panthers posted three goals over the following 23:37 while keeping the Black and Gold offense at bay to come away with a 3-0 decision.

MU's offense was led by senior forward Drake DeWitt (Columbia City, Ind.) whose attempt was aimed at the frame. Senior midfielder Nate Johnson (Portage, Ind.), junior defender Max Baker (Fort Wayne, Ind.), and senior forward Jared Wondergem (Hudsonville, Ind.) totaled a shot apiece, too.

The Spartans (2-7-1 overall, 0-1 HCAC) return to North Manchester for their annual clash with league rival Anderson University Wednesday, Oct. 3. Kickoff is 3 p.m.
