ANGOLA, IND. – A pair of first half goals proved to be the difference again for Manchester University during the second day of the 2013 Ketner Classic Saturday, Sept. 14.
The Spartans, slipping to 1-4-1, dropped a 3-0 decision to the host Trine University Thunder. MU kept it level with their in-state rivals until the hosts scored late in the 10th minute and came back less than 20 minutes later for another goal.
Manchester University's offense did force two saves out of TU's goalkeeper. Junior defender Mark Zinser (Guilford, Ind.) and sophomore midfielder Julio Luevano (Aguascalientes, Mexico) lined shots towards the home net that were repelled. Trine held an 18-4 shots advantage overall.
The Black and Gold resume a five-match road trip Saturday, Sept. 21, when they face their third straight Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association foe at Albion College.
