It's a busy weekend of activity for the Manchester University men's and women's teams at Spartan Field Friday through Saturday, Sept. 6-8. The men take on Principia College of Illinois Friday and Kentucky Christian University Saturday, while the women, joining Anderson University to co-host the annual Raven-Spartan Classic, face off against Kentucky Christian Saturday and Muskingum University of Ohio Sunday.

Spartan Shorts: Coach Dave Good's team continues a season-opening three-match home stand this weekend. The Spartans produced a solid second half performance against Concordia University of Illinois Aug. 31, but the Cougars tallied three first half goals for a 3-1 victory. ... MU held an 18-13 shots advantage over their guests and avoided the shutout in the 62nd minute. Junior midfielder Zac Hansen (Muskegon, Mich.) lofted a well-placed cross into the Concordia goalkeeper's box that sophomore defender/midfielder Drew Vergonet (Elkhart, Ind.) took and hammered into the back of the net.
Looking Ahead: Both teams take to the road next week. The men travel to Huntington, Ind., for a non-conference in-state battle with the Foresters Tuesday, Sept. 10, and then go to Trine University in Angola, Ind., for matches against Adrian College of Michigan and the host Thunder Friday and Saturday, Sept. 13 and 14 as part of TU's Ketner Classic. MU's women also stay in state with a trip to Goshen Wednesday, Sept. 11.
