DEFIANCE, OHIO – Manchester University resumed a theme of impressive improvement Saturday and Sunday, May 5 and 6.
The Spartans, winding up the 2017-18 season at Eagle Rock Golf Club during the third and fourth rounds of the 2018 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships, registered their two lowest 18-hole efforts with a 327 Saturday and 318 Sunday to wind up a four-round 1326 for an eighth-place finish. A 645 the team wound up with over the weekend noted the season's best 36-hole total by better than 35 strokes and was the program's best such set of rounds since the 2015-16 season.
Junior Connor Labedz (Aurora, Ill.) was at the forefront wrapping up a top 30 league conclusion. His 325, fueled by a Sunday 79, left him 30th. The freshman tandem of Dillon McFaddin (Bedford, Ind.) and Cody Loucks (Goshen, Ind.) was closed behind, ending in 32nd (McFaddin – 328) and 34th (Loucks – 333). Fellow first-year golfer Conner Heeg (Fowlerville, Mich.) (340 – 37th) and sophomore Zack Edwards (Plainfield, Ind.) (388 – 41st) rounded out the individual totals for Coach Tara Boone's squad.
