INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – Fans of the Manchester University men's golf program may want to get out the colors for a bright horizon for their program palettes after the Spartans' results at Franklin College's Dick Park Invitational Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 9 and 10.
Despite a 13th-place team finish in a rugged field, Coach Tara Boone's squad, especially its first year players, showed promise. Conner Heeg, a native of Fowlerville, Mich., carded rounds of 84 and 90 on The Fort Golf Resort Course to find himself among the top 60 (174 – T-57th). Fellow freshman Dillon McFaddin (Bedford, Ind.) went 92-86 (178) to end in a tie for 67th and showed the best improvement for a Black and Golf individual from the first to second 18. Sandwiched between them for the team's top three was junior Connor Labedz (Aurora, Ill.) went for 177 over 36 holes (91-86) in 66th place.
MU resumes its fall schedule Sunday, Sept. 24, as they play at the Defiance College of Ohio Invitational.
