LEXINGTON, KY. – Manchester University made a solid move from the first to second rounds of the 2015 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships Sunday, April 26.
The Spartans, trimming five strokes off their Saturday, April 25, total of 325 at the University of Kentucky's University Club Course with a Sunday 320, stood seventh through 36 holes of the 72-hole tournament. Their 645 left them just eight strokes out of the top five going into the final two rounds set for Saturday and Sunday, May 2 and 3, at Killbuck Golf Club in Anderson, Ind.
Senior Quinton Flora (Huntington, Ind.) led the charge for the Black and Gold. He carded rounds of 74 and 77 for a 151 total which has him sixth individually. Junior Dylan Burns (Hamilton, Ind.) also placed himself inside the top 20 (tied for 18th) with twin rounds of 80 for a 36-hole effort of 160.
Transylvania University holds the lead at the halfway point with a 586. Franklin College was second, 35 strokes shy of the Pioneers who had four players within the top seven.
