MU turns in strong effort at home invitational

WABASH, IND. – Senior Quinton Flora (Huntington, Ind.) and junior Dylan Burns (Hamilton, Ind.) produced a pair of top 10 finishes, guiding Manchester University at its home spring tournament Saturday, April 18.

Flora and Burns, tying for eighth on the individual leaderboard, each played Honeywell Golf Course to three-over-par 74s. Freshman Jacob Hopkins (Kokomo, Ind.) added a top 20 effort for Coach Tara Boone's squad, carding a 79.

The tourney hosts wound up third in the eight-team field. Their 307 trailed fellow Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference member Franklin College by six shots for second, while National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics' member St. Francis of Indiana cruised to first by 19 strokes (282). USF put four players in the individual top five.

Manchester University opens play in the 2015 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships Saturday and Sunday, April 25 and 26. Transylvania University hosts the first 36 holes at the University of Kentucky's Club Course.

NOTES: Flora registered his third top 20 mark and second successive top 10 effort … Burns earned his first collegiate top 10, while Hopkins was in the top 20 for the first time this year.
