Second round improvement highlights USF tourney

FORT WAYNE, IND. – Manchester University closed the 2015 University of St. Francis Spring Invitational by trimming eight strokes from their first 18 to second 18 Saturday, April 3.

The Spartans compiled a 324 at Cherry Hills Golf Club to close out a 656 36-hole total. Senior Quinton Flora (Huntington, Ind.) led the charge, knocking 15 strokes off his day one score with a one-over-par 73. He zipped up the individual leaderboard into the top 50, into 47th place (161). Freshman Spencer Jackson (Greenwood, Ind.) joined him in the top 50, placing in a tie for 43rd (160). Senior Dylan Crosley (Lapel, Ind.) was next low at 168, behind a first round 75 at Autumn Ridge Golf Club Thursday, April 2.

Lindenwood-Belleville held off Mt. Vernon Nazarene by five shots for the team title (603-608). Trine University was the top NCAA Division III placing program, taking third (616).

MU continues its spring slate Saturday and Sunday, April 11 and 12 at the Hanover College Spring Invitational.
