Behind three individual rounds of six-over-par 77 from seniors Quinton Flora (Huntington, Ind.) and Michael Rutledge (Granger, Ind.) and freshman Spencer Jackson (Greenwood, Ind.), Manchester University registered the biggest improvement from the first to the second round at Ohio Wesleyan University's Battle At The Brook Monday, Sept. 15.
Flora's score bumped him into the top 20 individually (159 – 19th), while Rutledge zipped up the charts into the top 25 (162 – 25th). Jackson's 36-hole total of 164 was just outside the top 25, as it placed him as part of a tie for 26th.
The Black and Gold's final round 311, 27 strokes better than their opening round finish on Sept. 14, put them at 649 for the two days. The host Battling Bishops held off fellow North Coast Athletic Conference rival Kenyon College by two shots (599-601) for first place.
MU breaks from competition until it hosts its fall invitational Saturday, Sept. 27.
