LEXINGTON, KY. – Manchester University opened its 2014 fall season with a 23rd-place team effort amongst a strong field at the Transylvania University Invitational Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 6 and 7.
Senior Quinton Flora (Huntington, Ind.) got out to a high-flying start, playing the University of Kentucky's Big Blue course to a 75 over the opening 18 holes for a top 15 slot. He closed with an overall 159 to end in a tie for 53rd. Junior Dylan Burns (Hamilton, Ind.) added a second top 100 individual mark, placing in a tie for 94th (167).
The Spartans' team score was a 697. Wittenberg University of Ohio took home top honors with a 585, just five shots ahead of Centre College of Kentucky.
MU's fall slate resumes Sunday and Monday, Sept. 14 and 15, at a tournament hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.
