INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Senior guard Adrian Johnson (Indianapolis, Ind. / Fall Creek) earned a spot on the All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference First Team on Wednesday afternoon as the league announced its annual awards.
Johnson was selected to the All-HCAC First Team for the second time in his career. The senior also garnered first team honors back in 2016 following a stellar freshman season in which Johnson was named not only the HCAC Freshman of the Year, but also the D3Hoops.com Great Lakes Region Freshman of the Year. Johnson has also garnered Second Team and Honorable Mention All-HCAC honors throughout his career.
This season, Adrian led the Spartans and ranked second in the conference in scoring, averaging a career-best 19.8 points per game. Johnson also led the league with 5.0 assists per game. His 2.0 steals per game placed him third in the conference rankings. Johnson tallied 10 or more points in all but two of the 24 games he suited up for in 2018-19. Johnson poured in 20 or more points 11 times and crossed the 30-plus point threshold twice.
Johnson has been one of the most prolific scorers in Manchester University history, concluding his career as the program's fourth all-time leading scorer with 1,854 points. Adrian started all 102 games that he appeared in for the Black and Gold and shot 47.7 percent (692-1452) from the floor. Johnson also posted career totals of 398 assists, 369 rebounds, 184 steals, 75 made three-point field goals, and 31 blocks.
