NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – Playing their third game in five days, the Manchester University men's basketball team ran out of gas against rival Anderson on Wednesday night, falling to the Ravens by a final score of 85-72.
Both teams remained close for the first 30 minutes on Wednesday, changing leads 10 times. The visiting Ravens outscored Manchester University 34-20 over the final 10 to secure their second straight win.
Anderson shot 33-of-61 (54 percent) from the floor. The Raven starters combined for 75 of the team's 85 points. Manchester shot 30-of-67 (45 percent) from the field but were held to just 1-of-9 shooting from downtown.
Three Spartans finished in double figures against Anderson. Senior Adrian Johnson (Indianapolis, Ind. / Fall Creek) scored 29 points on 11-of-22 shooting. He also went 7-of-10 from the charity stripe. Nathan Carbaugh (Fort Wayne, Ind. / North Side) scored 13 points. Cortiz Buckner (Lafayette, Ind. / Lafayette Jefferson) added 11 points off the bench.
MU fell to 9-13, 6-9 HCAC with the loss. Anderson has now won back-to-back games after dropping three straight. The Ravens improved to 9-13, 8-7 HCAC with Wednesday's win. The Spartans will be on the road for its final three games of the 2018-19 regular season. Manchester will travel to league-leading Hanover College on Saturday February 9. Tip against the Panthers will be at 3 p.m.
