NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – Manchester's four-game win streak came to an end in heartbreaking fashion on Saturday afternoon as visiting Transylvania edged the Spartans 74-73 in a wild finish in Stauffer-Wolfe Arena.
Trailing by one with 31 seconds left to play, Manchester University looked to is senior guard Adrian Johnson (Indianapolis, Ind. / Fall Creek) to make a play. Isolated near midcourt, Johnson let the clock roll down to 5 seconds before making his move. Johnson stopped at the top of the key and buried a three-pointer with just 2.6 seconds left, giving the Spartans a 73-71 lead.
After a full timeouts by both teams. The Pioneers threw the ball to midcourt and called yet another timeout to setup one final heave. TU's Devin Twenty threw a pass crosscourt that found Gabe Schmitt open for a three in front of the Transylvania bench. Schmitt's three was good and left just 0.2 seconds remaining in the game. Manchester's inbound pass was deflected, allowing time to expire.
