Spartans Drop Home Opener to Trine

NORTH MANCHESTER, IN - Robbie Johnson led the Spartans with double-digit points in the Spartans' 92-63 loss against Trine University in Stauffer-Wolfe Arena on Tuesday, November 27.

The Spartans scored the first bucket to start the half, however, never held the lead after that point. Midway through the first half, the Spartans cut the lead to 1 point, to 19-18, in favor of the Thunder. The comeback can be accredited to their entire team - a steal and layup by Nathan Carbaugh, two jumpers from Nathan Walpole and Abdul Ogunnaike, FT's Cortiz Buckner, and FT's and a layup from Adrian Johnson

The main highlight, though, is about senior captain Adrian Johnson. Johnson lead the Spartans in scoring with 13, which is his 15th-straight game scoring double digit points; this dates back to last season. This season, Johnson averages 20.8 PPG, 3.3 REB/G, and 6 Assists/G.

Cortiz Buckner, sophomore guard from Layfayette, scored double digits for his first time this season. Freshman Nathan Carbaugh led in rebounding with 6, followed by three other Spartans with 4.

The Spartans return to action this Saturday, December 1 at home at 1pm vs the Lions of Mount St. Joseph in their conference opener.
